Putting for a good cause

Legacy Park Friends teamed up with neighbors of the park, Sarah and David Everman, to host a recreational fundraiser for on 9/25/22 that centered around the Everman’s backyard putting green. The event raised $4997. Called Putt for the Park, it featured two afternoon sessions, one for families with children’s games, and one for adults. 52 guests either participated in competitive putting or watched and socialized in the Everman’s beautiful backyard. Golf-themed food and a variety of beverages were available along with enticing silent auction items from local sponsors, such as a BMW driving experience, an original oil painting by Mike Zanin of Ruskin Square, and Smith and James men’s clothing. Numerous door prizes were awarded to lucky individuals, too. Kids won prizes for taking turns at mini putt-putt, Go Fishing, and Pin the Flag on the Golf Pin. The winner of the first putting contest was Bobby Jones (yes, he lives up to the legendary famous golfer by the same name!) of Ruskin Square, and at the later session, Nelson Wurth of Braydon took first prize. Both went home with a round of golf for 4 at the Preserve, compliments of Embassy Suites. Thanks to our generous sponsors, the Evermans, and guests, Legacy Park Friends netted $4600 that will be allocated towards the purchase of a shade station near the volleyball court at the park.
